Description :
The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the national assessing authority in Australia for the assessment of academic qualifications in psychology for the purpose of migration. For a fee, the APS assesses the level at which an applicant's qualifications are comparable to an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) sequence of study in psychology.
The Australian government has nominated the Australian Psychological Society (APS) as the assessing body for psychologists applying for migration to Australia under the General Skilled Migration categories.
Requirements for a Positive Skills Assessment
People seeking to migrate under the General Skilled Migration categories must have:
Completed qualifications comparable to six years of study in psychology in Australia; and meet the English language proficiency requirements
OR
Hold unconditional general registration as a psychologist in Australia at the time of applying for an assessment
The APS may also conduct a separate Assessment of Skilled Employment History.
Skilled workers applying for the Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa may wish to include claims of relevant work experience as part of an Expression of Interest (EOI) lodged online via Skill Select. The APS is responsible for assessing whether an applicant’s claims of work experience equate to work at the appropriately skilled level of a psychologist.
To determine whether you have a basis for applying for an Assessment of Skilled Employment History, please read carefully through the guide link provided below.
Please note: Points for relevant skilled employment history are awarded by the Department of Home Affairs. The APS provides advice only as to whether an applicant’s claims of work experience equate to work at the appropriately skilled level of a psychologist.
