Are you planning to pursue a career in Medical Radiation Science in Australia and are applying with qualifications gained from an overseas institution?

A migration assessment with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) is the evaluation of qualifications and employment in radiography, radiation therapy and sonography for the purpose of migrating to Australia.

 

The ASMIRT has been authorised by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection to assess and issue skills assessments for the following occupations:

 

ANZSCO Code 251211 Medical Diagnostic Radiographer

ANZSCO Code 251212 Radiation Therapist

ANZSCO Code 251214 Sonographer

ANZSCO Code 251212 Radiation Therapist:

• Overseas Qualifications: Qualifications gained outside Australia are not immediately accepted or recognised for the issue of the ASMIRT Statement of Qualification for migration purposes.
• Pre-approved Courses: Only graduates with Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Technology and Radiation Therapy degrees from New Zealand are currently eligible for accelerated assessment via the "ASMIRT Statement of Qualification – ASMIRT OQAP Recognised Programs 2024" form. They need at least one year of full-time equivalent clinical experience in their country of origin within the past five years.
• Assessment Process (Migration): Applicants must use the "Application for Assessment of Radiography/Radiation Therapy and Ultrasound Qualifications form" and provide certified/notarised copies of all required documentation (with translations if necessary).

ANZSCO Code 251214 Sonographer:

• Overseas Qualifications: Ultrasound qualifications gained outside Australia are not immediately accepted and recognised for registration in Australia.
• Pre-approved Courses: Graduates from Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) approved courses can apply directly using the "ASMIRT Recognition in Ultrasound July 2024" form.
