485 visa Changes for Grad Certificate and Grad diploma Graduates

Important Update for Graduates: Changes to the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) from 14 December 2024

The Department of Home Affairs has refined the Temporary Graduate Visa (TGV) program following the 1 July 2024 Migration Strategy. These changes clarify the eligibility for Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas in the Post-Higher Education Work (PHEW) stream:

Graduate Certificates: No longer considered qualifying study for the PHEW stream. Students must apply within 6 months of completing an eligible qualification to meet TGV requirements.

Graduate Diplomas: Remain eligible if linked to a prior Australian qualification. An unrelated Graduate Diploma does not qualify for the TGV, and applicants must apply within 6 months of completing an eligible qualification.
